Plague Doctor Mask
Personal Project
I made this plague doctor mask for Halloween. I drafted the pattern by hand, and stitched it of a lightweight leather. The beak stands up as I stitched wire into the beak. I also pack the beak with paper or fabric when wearing for ultimate structure. The back strap is a scavenged boot buckle.
The mask is all handsewn.

I made the beak first, after making several paper mockups. It's shown here with the excess wire poking out.

The mask is made from thin leather, coat hanger wire, a boot buckle and strap, and black translucent fabric for eyeholes.

I made the face portion by draping fabric over my face, tucking and darting where needed, and making a pattern from that.

The mask fits my head snugly. Also shown here is a mask by Hunter Lypen.
